Zhiyuan Li received his BS from Tsinghua University in 2017 and MS and PhD from Princeton University in 2019 and 2022 respectively. He then spent one year as a postdoctoral researcher at Stanford University. In 2023 he joined Toyota Technological Institute at Chicago as a tenure-track assistant professor.
Prof. Li’s main research interests are in the theoretical foundation of machine learning, especially deep learning theory. Some current specific interests include non-convex optimization of neural networks, generalization of overparametrized models, implicit bias of optimizaiton algorithms, and large language models. He has served as Area Chair for Conference on Neural Information Processing Systems (NeurIPS). He is a recepient of Microsoft Research PhD Fellowship.
Dr. Li also has a personally maintained website which can be found at http://www.ttic.edu/li.
