Karl Stratos received a B.S. in computer science, a B.A. in mathematics, and a minor in history from the University of Rochester (2008-2011). He obtained a Ph.D. in computer science at Columbia University (2011-2016). During this time, he also interned at Microsoft Research in New England (2013 summer) and Google NYC (2014 summer). He was a senior research scientist at Bloomberg before joining TTIC (2016-2017).
He is broadly interested in statistical approaches to natural language processing. He is particularly interested in methods that can leverage unlabeled data or make use of indirect signals, making his research tend toward semi-supervised/unsupervised learning.
Dr. Stratos also has a personally maintained website which can be found at http://www.ttic.edu/stratos.
